Tell us about yourself?
I am Gloria Alelle like I said Lango by tribe from Alebtong district. I come from a family of 5 girls and am the last born.

Tell us about your career as a model. How did you get started?
Well my modeling career started last year after school. I didn’t know I could not till I tried and found out I was actually good even without training I was good. At the boot camp we had limited time to train but I was one of the best in walking.

But before that I was doing photo shoots without being directed and it was perfect. That’s when I knew I was good at it and kicked off. Apparently I do commercial, not with any agency yet

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
Oh, am so emotional. I don’t like seeing anyone suffer.

What drove you to participate in Miss Tourism Northern?
First this that drove me to participate is the love and passion that I have for my region, I needed to be an ambassador. The people of the north have suffered enough, especially with the war. They have been looked down at most of the times and most of their views are ignored. This has made many northern young ladies in the central refuse be associated as northerners. I remember most times while I was still at school when I the people am from the north they refuse and their reason was Northerners are not as beautiful. All these lower our esteems so I needed to once again bring pride back to our young ladies.

Secondly the north has the greatest number of people with mental health problems I believe this due to the past war, violence in families, poverty and unemployment. I saw this problem has to be addressed and people be sensitized.

Third. Oh I love Tourism; I participated because I needed to promote tourism in my region. Northern Uganda is beautiful with so many historical sites and national parks that people do not know about. Other tourists fear going to the north simple because they still think the area is not yet settled from war. All these have to be addressed.

Well have so many reasons that I can’t tell all here

What is this one thing that you would like to say to the young girls who aspire to become beauty queens?
That one thing is, ‘to become a beauty queen it’s not just beauty but beauty with a brain’. Study and learn to have knowledge. Know what you want and don’t lay back when you don’t make it the first time. The kingdom of God has suffered violence and only the violent take it by force. Apply that to your daily life.

Which part of the competition was your favorite?
Hahaha I loved the session of Q&A.. Oh my word that was the time I saw girls panic. Even those who knew answers to particular questions seemed to have forgotten.

What were you judged on during the competition?
We were judged on the level of confidence, knowledge and beauty.

To someone out there who doesn’t know about Miss Tourism, what is it all about?
Miss tourism is all about choosing beauty queens who are able represent and promote domestic tourism and culture in different districts or regions.

Tell us about Ugandan Tourism in general.
Uganda nicknamed as the Pearl of Africa is truly the pearl. Uganda is rich with very beautiful and breathes taking sceneries. Its cultural diversity is mind blowing and enticing. The climate is beautiful which favors tourism. Very rich with over 1027 bird species making it have the largest number of birds in Africa. Uganda is a classic adventure tourism destination.

How did it feel to hear you name as the winner?
I felt so happy and it was unbelievable. The joy over whelmed me something that brought my tears. This was because the girls i was competing were as good and brilliant. I felt blessed and gave thanks to God.

What does the crown symbolize to you?
The crown symbolizes a sign of victory and it shows that you have exhibited a potential well deserving of wearing it. So you are expected to be a member of a pageant program’s marketing team and a face and voice of others.

What does it mean to be a Beauty Queen?
To be a beauty queen comes with a lot of responsibilities, one is expected to contribute and be helpful to citizens of the society who strive to better the world wherever life leads them.

Okey! So tell us, what is your aim?
I aim at promoting domestic tourism in my region and Uganda as a whole.

I also aim at restoring hope to the hopeless by standing in the gap for them and advocating for their rights.

I aim at restoring our culture that has been eroded by the western culture.

Will you participate in Miss Uganda next year?
Hopefully yes.

And what will be your preparation?
I’ll make sure I have knowledge on the current events that is taking place in the country and globally..

Besides that my media platform should be good place to campaign.

Anything special you want to do in your life?
Of course yes. That special thing is having a charity organizations that caters for the very old and orphans.

What are your plans for 2017/18 as a Queen?
My plans for 2017/18 as a queen are to visit as many regions as possible to sensitize the local community about mental problems.

I also plan to visit the community and schools to education people about tourism and also have ambassadors in schools through having a competition to see who deserves to be etc

What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I want to leave a legacy that is going to be very hard for the next queen after me to over shadow..

A legacy that every girl would want to emulate.

Lastly, any message to your fans and our readers.
Yes. First of all with much joy I would like to thank you all who have showed great support and love towards me, with your support I made it. And my fellow ladies out there, never look down at yourself because there’s something you very good at that not anyone in this world is good at. Discover it and use it as a stepping stone.
